2024 CTG Edinburgh Trip Highlights
Artist Meet Ups
The CTG group met up with Todd Almond after his gorgeous one-person show I'm Almost There based on The Odyssey.
Sawdust Symphony
A favorite of the group: Carpentry and circus collide. In Sawdust Symphony Michael Zandl, David Eisele and Kolja Huneck combine their passion for crafting, object manipulation and fresh wood. The piece explores the human desire to create: the process from vision to construction, the tragedy of work and the relationship between tools and humans.
Day at the Traverse Theatre
Photo: Cyrano adaptation by Virgina Gay
A full day at the world-renowned Traverse Theatre, with 4+ stellar performances, topped off by dinner at 4-star in house restaurant with special guests from the performances that day and the leadership of the Traverse.
THE GREATEST MUSICAL THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN, By Randy Thatcher
Our group saw this piece, actually written and performed by Matt Haughey, playing lonely musical composer Randy Thatcher, who has finally found the confidence to share his magnum opus (to an imaginary audience in his bedroom). The CTG group saw the show and followed up with dinner at The Chef’s Table at Commons Club Restaurant with Matt as a guest in attendance to talk about his artistic journey.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo
A can’t miss experience! The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual, internationally renowned event held on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, featuring a mix of military bands, cultural performances, and a spectacular show of music, dance, and precision display, taking place each August. 2025 will be the 75th anniversary!
Late Night Cabaret
The most daring of our group chose some late night shows. Midnight is when the risqué, the hilarious, and the absurd reign.
